The Founder
Supporting her daughter through various struggles increased Janice's awareness and sensitivity to the negative consequences of teen pregnancy and births. The unplanned out-of-wedlock pregnancy was emotionally and financially taxing. Nevertheless, love was the driving force that compelled Janice to assist in every way possible to assure the health, safety and welfare of both mother and baby. This experience is foundational to establishing Women of Honor and Destiny, TLC, Inc. A Registered Nurse, native of Bunkie, LA and current resident of Houston, TX, Janice brings to WOHAD more than 35 years diversified clinical experience specializing in Maternal/Child Health and Adolescent Psychiatry. Employing her skills in a community Maternal/Child Health clinic provided in-dept knowledge of a myriad of problems teen mothers encounter. Lack of support from family and the birth father, uneducated, lack of finances, overwhelming prevalence of STD's and depression gives credence to the need for our home. Janice believes, "With God's help every young mother entering our home will experience a tangible touch of the unconditional love, unfailing compassion and unbiased acceptance of Jesus. These qualities, undoubtedly will awaken potential and catapult the young mother towards her destiny." |
